Dr. Ellen Rindner is a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in preschoolers, children, adolescents and adults for medication management, psychoeducation, psychotherapy and consultation. Her expertise is in the treatment of ADD/ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral Disorders, Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders and Schizophrenia.
In her 33 years of nursing, Dr. Ellen Rindner has worked as a child and adolescent psychiatric mental health nurse clinical specialist (CNS), a family psychiatric nurse practitioner (NP), a nurse educator and a nurse administrator. Past nurse practitioner positions have included: Kaw Valley Behavioral Health Care Outpatient Clinic in Olathe, KS; two other private practice locations in Leawood and Lawrence (respectively); in the Developmental Clinic at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO; and as the Autism Camp Nurse at Camp Determination for three years. In addition, Dr. Rindner has also worked as a middle school nurse and substitute school nurse for the SMSD and OSD in Johnson County, KS.
Dr. Rindner has worked as a psychiatric-mental health nurse for 29 years in various inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Rindner has served as the Director of Nursing at the Children's Psychiatric Center, Albuquerque, NM; the Program Manager at the St. Vincent's Psychiatric Day Hospital Program in Harrison, NY; and the Nursing Care Coordinator for an adolescent inpatient unit at NYH-Cornell Medical Center at White Plains, NY.
Most recently, Dr. Rindner worked in the capacity of an Assistant Clinical Professor at the KUMC School of Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas, where she taught psychiatric nursing at the baccalaureate and at the graduate master's level PMH-NP program. She is currently working on a Youth Depression Grant through the KUMC Department of Telemedicine with psychologist, Dr. Eve-Lynn Nelson. Dr. Rindner and Dr. Nelson co-teach an elective on Youth Depression to BSN and RN-To-BSN level.
Dr. Rindner is accepting new clients and takes self-pay as well as many insurance company payments. As of March 2009, her office hours will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0800-1700; whereas as of June 2009, she will join the Midwest Psychiatry on a full time basis.
